Sandwich Students

Each year, we recruit a number of sandwich students to work in different roles across the Bank for a 13 month placement. These positions provide an excellent opportunity to gain work experience in a stimulating and challenging environment where you can contribute to the Bank’s policy, research and operations on current topical issues.

The Financial Accounts Assistant will be part of the Financial Accounts team performing accounts reconciliations and support for the production of the weekly bank return and other accounting outputs. The Financial Accounts Team is responsible for the production of the bank’s published financial accounts on an IFRS basis, overseeing financial controls in the Bank and providing technical support to senior management and business areas on projects or other work where there are accounting issues. This is a good opportunity to see the Bank’s business from the centre.

Research Assistants will gain first hand experience in the Bank’s core work. Working alongside economists on a wide range of issues (including monetary, financial, labour market and international economics). Your role will typically include briefing, producing charts and tables for Monetary Policy and Financial Stability Committees and manipulating economic and financial data for research projects.

The HR Associate will work across a variety of teams within the Human Resources area including AskHR (the HR helpdesk), Recruitment and Compensation and Benefits.  They may also have the opportunity to get involved with HR project work.
