Bank of England

Initial Entry Scheme

Our Initial Entry programme is open to individuals with A Level or equivalent qualifications (e.g. International or Welsh Baccalaureate, Scottish Higher, Irish Leaving Certificate or BTEC Nationals) for permanent recruitment.  The scheme is not aimed at those with a university degree.

Opportunities are mainly available in three areas of the Bank:

In Banking Services the main focus will be to undertake operational Banking work. This involves processing of financial data, often to tight deadlines and requires a high level of accuracy. These roles will give you the opportunity to gain first hand experience of the banking processes of a major financial institution.

In Information Systems and Technology positions will be available on the service desk. The successful applicants will deal with IT and Telecoms service requests for all Bank staff.

In the Monetary and Financial Statistics Division recruits will be required to process statistical data in a timely and accurate fashion.

There will also be a small number of research and clerical based opportunities in other areas of the Bank.

Recruits to the scheme will follow a formal development programme for the first two and a half years and will have the opportunity to study for additional professional qualifications relevant to your role and the Bank.   Please view the downloadable brochure at the link on this page for further information.

We are now closed for applications for Initial Entry positions starting in 2010.
