Selection Process

Successful applicants for our Initial Entry and Gap Year schemes will be invited to sit our first stage aptitude tests which cover spelling/grammar, numerical awareness and decision making. These tests will be held at our Head Office in Threadneedle Street, London.  Information about the tests will be sent to you once your place has been confirmed.

Candidates who pass the first stage test may then be invited to our selection centres at our Head Office, which take place approximately one month after the application closing date. The centres consist of:

  • A group exercise, which acts as an ‘ice-breaker’ and is designed to test your communication skills.

In the group exercise we are looking for evidence of your oral communication, interpersonal awareness, confidence and assertiveness. If you say very little, it is very difficult for us to assess whether you have the skills we require. Get involved in the conversation, even if it is just to ask questions to clarify your own and others’ understanding. Show an interest in what others are saying.

  • An interview, designed to talk through your skills and experiences both academically and relating to you as an individual.  The people interviewing you want to get the best from you – so try to relax, be confident and show them what you are capable of. It’s a good idea to think in advance of specific examples you can give which demonstrate your capabilities. This could be from your experiences in extra-curricular activities or in a part-time job.

All offers of employment will be subject to satisfactory references, security clearance, identity check, criminal record check, credit check, proof of qualifications and immigration clearance where appropriate. You will also be asked to complete a medical questionnaire.
